Ebook About From the bestselling team of Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard comes Killing Reagan, a page-turning epic account of the career of President Ronald Reagan that tells the vivid story of his rise to power -- and the forces of evil that conspired to bring him down. Just two months into his presidency, Ronald Reagan lay near death after a gunman's bullet came within inches of his heart. His recovery was nothing short of remarkable -- or so it seemed. But Reagan was grievously injured, forcing him to encounter a challenge that few men ever face. Could he silently overcome his traumatic experience while at the same time carrying out the duties of the most powerful man in the world?Told in the same riveting fashion as Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy, Killing Jesus, and Killing Patton, Killing Reagan reaches back to the golden days of Hollywood, where Reagan found both fame and heartbreak, up through the years in the California governor's mansion, and finally to the White House, where he presided over boom years and the fall of the Iron Curtain. But it was John Hinckley Jr.'s attack on him that precipitated President Reagan's most heroic actions. In Killing Reagan, O'Reilly and Dugard take readers behind the scenes, creating an unforgettable portrait of a great man operating in violent times.Book Killing Reagan: The Violent Assault That Changed a Presidency (Bill O'Reilly's Killing Series) Review :
This is third killing book I've listened to and the first book that covered subject matter I was alive to witness. I don't feel that it portrayed Reagan or his presidency accurately to the point that it is contradictory at times. For example, every other chapter said he began to look frail and was disoriented and confused in public; then it goes on to discuss his landslide victories. You can't have it both ways. It also quotes Ron Jr's claim that Reagan showed signs of Alzheimer's in office--Ron Jr. publicly backed away from that comment. I'm also disappointed in how much of this book relies on media opinion. This book routinely quotes today's anti-Trump "journalists" who use the exact same attacks on Trump that they used on Reagan. One has to question if their opinions are based on reality or based on the same rabid bias they display today. Finally, the book extensively describes Nancy Reagan's controlling, jealous behavior and her reliance on astrologists. Yet, O'Reilly reads a letter written by Reagan that contradicts it. All I can conclude is that O'Reilly didn't weigh Reagan's own words as heavily as journalists that currently display gross bias in their reporting. Disappointing. It makes me question the veracity of the other books I have listened to. O'Reilly and Dugard once again team up to bring another entry into the "Killing" series. Like all previous books, it is nonfiction and is narrated in the third person.Killing Reagan stands out in the series due to its much more political-heavy story. Given that the book revolves around Reagan's presidency and life, a political thriller is definitely in store for any reader interested in 20th century US politics. If you would prefer to pick this book up just as a drama to get your blood pumping, it's all in here too. The story is played out from Reagan's beginnings as an actor up until his death in 2004. The plot is all in sequence from start to finish and O'Reilly and Dugard's excellent dramatized writing style really plays into its own. Along with Reagan's story, the book also follows several snippets of the life of John Hinckley Jr. On March 30th, Hinckley sets out to assassinate Reagan.O'Reilly and Dugard have provided readers with another nonfiction thriller that successfully dramatizes the lives of past historical figures. From Lincoln in the Civil War to Ronald Reagan in 1981, the "Killing" series covers all the historical bases in a style that no other book series can match. If you are a fan of past books in this series, PICK THIS ONE UP!
